1. Tell us about your business.
Guthrie Public Schools serves over 3500 students in grades PK-12. Our school district covers 232 square miles of Logan County. With over 460 employees, we are the largest employer in the county. We offer two intergenerational Pre-Kindergarten classes in local nursing facilities where the students interact with the residents on a daily basis. Guthrie High School has multiple opportunities for students to obtain college credit while still in high school. We also partner with Meridian Technology Center to provide students with many options as they seek the best opportunity for their career. Our award winning extra-curricular activities offer many additional opportunities for students to find success.
2. What is one thing that makes your business great?
Our people make the difference at Guthrie Public Schools. We care for children as if they were our own from the beginning of the day until the end.
3. Why is Guthrie a great community to be a part of?
This community supports the school system through many different opportunities. The overwhelming support in the past two bond issues is one of the greatest signs of support. We continue to move in a positive direction as a community and the support of the school system is a big part of that movement.
4. Why is your company a part of the Chamber?
The growth of any community begins from within. The Chamber of Commerce is a powerful agent for our community to grow and prosper. A strong Chamber of Commerce builds leadership capacity within a community which in turn makes Guthrie stronger.
5. What was the last thing that made you smile?
Walking through the buildings while reviewing the improvements we have made over the summer to better serve our students.
