AMBASSADORS

Objective: Recruit new members, retain existing members and serve as the official goodwill diplomats for the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce.

The Ambassadors participate in a range of activities to promote, support, and communicate with Chamber members.

Membership: Open to any Chamber Investor

Goals: 

  • To attend and promote member participation in Chamber functions including Ribbon Cuttings, Groundbreakings, Business After Hours, Chamber Coffee, Monthly Business Spotlights, etc.
  • To aggressively recruit new business and individuals members. Each Ambassador is encouraged to recruit a minimum of one new Chamber in 2018.
  • To work with existing members and seek their views on how the Chamber can better serve them.
  • To work with the Chamber staff to update membership contact information.
  • To make goodwill calls/visits monthly, in order to make contact with, and receive feedback from Chamber members.

Education and Workforce Development

Objective: Support all local education systems, organizations and agencies. Provide an open format that allows for educational issues and topics to be presented. 

Membership: Open to any Chamber Investor

Goals:

  • To seek support of Chamber Businesses for the (PIE) Partners in Education Program so that each school has at least 2 active partners.
  • To support educational programs such as elementary school mentoring.
  • To provide information to the Chamber Guthrie Legislation Committee on education issues.
  • To host a new teacher welcome activity (luncheon, gift bag giveaway).
  • To host a support staff appreciation day. To hold a “Stuff the Bus” school supply collection event.
  • To provide support to the school food pantry program. To conduct on-site visits of our local schools.
  • To prepare and distribute a summer children’s activity handout.
  • To keep our Chamber Investors informed about school bond progress.

Meeting Date: 4th Thursday - 4:00 p.m., various school sites during the school year.

Guthrie Chamber Business Council

Objective: Support and enhance Guthrie's business community in the areas of business development, education, communication and networking opportunities through specific programs and activities directed to the needs of business.

Membership: Open to any Chamber Investor

Goals:

  • To plan and coordinate activities, including at educational workshops, to meet the current needs of business.
  • To recognize outstanding business/partners during the year and make a recommendation for Business of the Year which will be recognized at the annual Chamber Banquet
  • To publish the Guthrie Business Council Tip Sheet to be included in an email blast, blog and social media.
  • To partner with the Chamber Ambassadors on the annual Goodwill Days.
  • To support Ribbon Cuttings, welcome new members to the Chamber and encourage all members to participate in the Guthrie Business Council.

Meeting Date: 2nd Thursday - 8 a.m., Guthrie Public Library

Guthrie Chamber Legislative Committee

Objective: Support and enhance Guthrie's business community by being aware of current Legislation, communicating with our legislators and providing the community a voice through open forums.

Membership: Open to any Chamber Investor

Goals:

  • To plan and coordinate open forums with State representatives and local councilmen and women.
  • To stay up to date on current legislation that effects the business community.
  • To communicate the communities opinions to our representatives on applicable legislation.

Leadership Guthrie

Objective: Develop a pool of committed well-informed leaders who will actively participate in the growth of the community by accepting leadership roles in civic, charitable, or government organizations.

Membership: Open to any chamber member by selection process

Meeting Date: Monthly, August through May
